CLIENT HIGHLIGHT | NOVEMBER 2025
Give it up for Client Highlight and frequent ASF competitor (and winner!), Melissa DeVarney! She has been working hard with her trainer, Matt Webb, for several years and has been making amazing progress. We love seeing her getting stronger in the gym, and showing off that strength at Bench-A-Thon and the Simply Fit Games! Keep it going, Melissa!
ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: Melissa DeVarney
Melissa’s trainer Matt had a lot of great things to say about her:
Melissa is a shining example of consistency and dedication over time. We have been working together for the past two and a half years, and in that time, she has become so much stronger. I’ve seen her step out of her comfort zone many times, always with an infectious, positive, can-do attitude!Last year, she not only participated in the ASF Games but even won her division. She stepped up again to take part in our Bench-A-Thon, showing both her impressive strength and her wonderful involvement in our ASF community.
Melissa is currently making incredible progress on her favorite exercise, the Trap Bar Deadlift, and is getting closer to achieving both a pull-up and push-ups. I am very proud of her hard work and look forward to seeing her continue to push her limits with her usual smile and courage!
Here’s what Melissa told us about her experience:
What do you enjoy most about working with your trainer at ASF?
I love having a team! I used to play team sports in school and I feel that same supportive energy from Matt as my trainer. Matt is encouraging, helpful, and great at hyping me up to do a little bit more! I leave every workout in a positive mood. It’s also so nice to have an expert I can trust to plan my workouts. In my job I do a lot of planning and scheduling, and it’s refreshing to not have to worry about that kind of thing when it comes to the gym – I show up, Matt has a plan, and we make it happen!
What have you been most proud of since you started training?
Winning 1st place in the Simply Fit Games last year was a highlight and something I didn’t expect when I signed up for it! It was so much fun to have something specific to train for, and rewarding to see how much progress I’d made since I started. The work I put in on the trap bar deadlifts really paid off! I’m also really happy with how consistently I’ve been coming here, especially when it comes to the morning workouts. Going to the gym is a habit now and something I really look forward to.
What are you looking forward to?
Getting stronger, trying new exercises, and using my new strength outside of the gym in activities like archery and tennis!
