When and why did you come to Austin?
I came to Austin in April 2022 because I wanted to experience a new city with better weather than home!
What is your background? How did you get into personal training?
I’ve played sports my whole life (basketball, Gaelic football, rugby) so I got into the gym fairly young. My older brother is also a trainer and I fell in love with the idea of helping people become strong and confident in their bodies. I studied Sports and Exercise science in University and started working in gyms, and now I get to train people every day!
Tell us about your current fitness goals and training:
I currently play rugby (15s and 7s) and Gaelic football, so a lot of my training works towards being fast, powerful and strong for my sports. Personally, I am also working to improve my big 3 lifts (squat, bench, deadlift) and get a little bit leaner.
What is the most common fitness myth you work through with your clients?
That more is always better – you don’t need to spend 10+ hours training per week to see results! Resistance training for just an hour a week has been proven effective in building muscle. Combine this with a balanced diet and some gentle walking, you will be onto a winner!
What do you want your clients to take away from each training session with you?
A sense of having achieved something that day and energy for the rest of their day.
What sets you apart from other fitness professionals?
I take a holistic approach to training where I see the whole person including their other commitments, history, likes and dislikes. I strive to make fitness attainable for my clients and not feel like a far off goal they will never reach.
What is your favorite thing about Austin Simply Fit?
My favourite thing about ASF is spending time around people who all are trying to work on themselves and the positive energy they bring!
Favorite quote, and who said it?
“I don’t believe in magic. I believe in hard work.” – Richie McCaw, rugby legend
If you had a super power, what would it be?
Probably unlimited strength or speed!
