What is your background? How did you get into personal training?
All things sports and endurance! I grew up trying all different kinds of sports, from distance running to swimming and soccer. In the past couple of years, I’ve gotten into triathlons and completed my first marathon. With constant training, I barely found myself in an off-season and consistently found myself dealing with minor injuries. I realized I needed to start taking better care of my body outside of sport. Your body is what’s with you your entire life, so wouldn’t you want to take the best care of it as possible? I’ve always wanted to help my community live a healthier lifestyle, and once I learned what it takes to build a strong, healthy body, I realized I could use training to help others change their lives.
Tell us about your current fitness goals and training.
I’m currently searching for my next endurance feat! Whether that’s another marathon, an ultramarathon, or even an Ironman, I’m always looking for a new challenge. Right now, my goal is to build a stronger foundation through strength and conditioning so I can stay healthy and injury-free throughout the hard training ahead.
What is the most common fitness myth you work through with your clients?
“No pain, no gain.” A lot of people think that if they didn’t push themselves until failure or get a good sweat in, then they didn’t work hard enough or it didn’t count. I try to make my clients understand that it’s all about quality and meeting them where they are in their fitness journey. Consistency and recovery are key. It’s a privilege to get to the point where you can push at max effort, but you have to build a foundation first.
What do you want your clients to take away from each training session with you?
I want my clients to leave feeling like they had a good time and, at least for a little bit in their day, I helped put a smile on their face. I want them to have learned something about their body and realize what they’re capable of. Most importantly, I want to help you find something you enjoy and feel confident working toward the goals that matter to you.
What sets you apart from other fitness professionals?
I bring a fun and young perspective to personal training, combining my background in sports with my education in kinesiology. I’m passionate about helping people build confidence, find community, and create a healthy lifestyle that they can actually maintain.
How do you, personally, define success?
For me, success means growth. You don’t always have to reach the goal you originally set to be successful. If you can face challenges, adapt, learn from them, and come out better because of them, I think that’s something worth celebrating.
If you had a super power what would it be?
Definitely teleportation. I love discovering and exploring new places around the world. I believe traveling is one of the best ways to grow as a person and expand your outlook. Plus, it would eliminate all the car and airport issues I constantly deal with when traveling!
