Give it up for Client Highlight Alicia Villanueva! Alicia has long been an athlete, playing team sports and lifting solo at the gym. But since working with coach Dan Behnfeldt, training with structure and intent has fixed weaknesses and taken her strength to the next level! We love her attitude and her work ethic, and we are rooting for her on the field!

Here’s what Dan had to say about Alicia:

I chose Alicia as Athlete of the Month because she truly enjoys the process of training and getting better. She recently front squatted 125 for 5, reps which was a PR for her. After dealing with a nagging hip issue she was more than happy to back off, address the issue, and learn more about how to strengthen and rehab her hip. She always comes in with great attitude, ready to learn more about fitness and work hard.

Here’s how it’s been going for Alicia:

What do you enjoy the most about working with your trainer at ASF? I love that each workout comes with an expected challenge. I sought training when I realized I was going to the gym and lifting without much structure, and I felt stuck and unsure of how to progress. I really appreciate that Dan takes the time to explain the exercises and the “whys” and “hows” behind our lifts. Understanding the intent truly helps drive my motivation and makes each workout feel purposeful rather than routine. Dan has been a great trainer throughout this entire process!

What have you been most proud of since you started training? I have been most proud of my athletic performance and recovery since starting training. I love playing team sports throughout the week, and before training, I often experienced pain and discomfort during and after games. With Dan’s expertise, he developed a lifting program that specifically targeted my weaknesses, and through thoughtful scaffolding, he helped me build well-rounded strength. As a result, I’ve become a much stronger athlete and can enjoy my sports without the setbacks I used to experience! I was even able to play 5 full-length matches of soccer in a weekend for our State Cup tournament and felt strong and stable through it all!

What are you looking forward to? I’m looking forward to getting back into my Sunday 11v11 soccer league and our Saturday basketball league! After a long winter break, I’m excited to see how much I’ve progressed during the off-season!
