ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: Sunny Nelson
Here’s what Sophie told us about Sunny:
I chose Sunny because she has shown incredible consistency and commitment to improving her back pain despite a busy schedule. She originally came in dealing with high levels of discomfort and frequent bad days, and the transformation since then has been awesome to watch. Movements that once felt unstable have completely changed! She now moves with confidence and control, maintaining a strong, neutral spine. Her awareness and confidence have grown every week, and it’s been genuinely exciting to see her rebuild trust in her body and continue leveling up her strength and stability!
Here’s what Sunny said about training with Sophie:
What do you enjoy most about working with your trainer at ASF? My trainer is incredibly efficient with our time together — we stay focused and productive while still keeping things enjoyable. She’s cheerful and easy to be around, genuinely curious about my life without being overly chatty, which is the perfect balance for me. What I appreciate most is how knowledgeable and professional she is — she’s always watching my form and quick to modify something on the spot if it’s not quite working for my body. It feels very personalized.
What have you been most proud of since you started training? Honestly, just how much stronger I’ve gotten — and I only come twice a week! I didn’t expect 30-minute sessions to be as impactful as they’ve been, but the results have genuinely surprised me. It’s a great reminder that consistency beats volume.
What are you looking forward to? I’m looking forward to continuing to build on the fundamentals — proper form, breathing, and structure. I’ve come to realize how much I was working against my own body before, which contributed to a back injury in 2024 that I’ve been rehabbing ever since. I’m really grateful for the progress I’ve made, and I’m excited to keep moving toward less pain and a stronger foundation.
