Athlete of the Month


Congratulations to Rebecca Buckalew and James Gilroy! These athletes are following the process to achieve real change – they found a training program they enjoy, that holds them accountable, and that keeps them progressing at the right pace over time. James and Rebecca never miss a session, and they come in ready to work hard at whatever their trainers throw at them. Clients like these are a trainer’s dream! From James’s trainer, Daniel Taylor:

I chose James because every time he comes in to train he gets after it! He is very serious about reaching his goals. He not only is disciplined in the gym, but outside as well! He’s expressed to me how he is adjusting his nutritional habits to coincide with the work he is putting in inside the gym. Lastly, James has been a great client since Day 1. I believe it is very important to be able to connect with clients; gaining a client’s trust drives them to reach their desired goals.

Here’s what James told us about his experience:

What do you enjoy most about working with your trainer at ASF?
Great training staff, sometimes too nice :). Gym doesn’t get overcrowded. D always has the plan together and is ready to go. He makes sure to track all my weights, sets and reps and as a data junkie, I appreciate that. He adjusts the exercises based on what I’m able to do while still pushing me. I feel like a groom at a wedding, I just need to show up.

What have you been most proud of since you started training?
Never missing a session, in the past have had trouble locking things in and being consistent.

What are you looking forward to?
Getting swole.


ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: Rebecca Buckalew

Rebecca is so fun to work with! We’ve made great progress in strength and stamina since starting. She’s a hard worker and has been super consistent in her training.

Here’s what Rebecca had to say:

What do you enjoy most about working with your trainer at ASF?
I absolutely love working with my trainer, Ashley Bazan. She is a true partner in my fitness journey. During each workout, she motivates and gives me positive encouragement. She keeps me accountable while also meeting me where I am that day. She is patient with me while I’m learning a new exercise, and she gives me corrections while also trusting me to listen to my body and make minor adjustments.

What have you been most proud of since you started training?
Before I started training at ASF, my workout schedule had been haphazard for years. I’m really proud that I’ve been able to find a consistent workout routine with Ashley’s help that doesn’t feel like a chore. I’m also proud of the small, incremental improvements that I’m making.

What are you looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to continuing my work with Ashley and growing stronger and stronger as time goes on!
