Keri and KT have worked together since KT started coaching at Austin Simply Fit nearly two years ago. When Keri left to live overseas for a couple years she continued to live an active lifestyle. She came back to the states and to Austin Simply Fit to get ready for her wedding in December 2017. “Keri has been incredibly dedicated and consistent in her training and nutrition has been able to able to make some incredible changes,” said her coach and trainer KT. Now, with the wedding behind her Keri has set a new goal of getting on stage for a figure competition! Here’s what Keri has to say about her ASF experience.
What do you do for work/ in your professional life?
I’m a sales account executive for a start-up software company here in Austin, TX
How long have you been working out at ASF?
About 2 years total. I trained with KT for about a year before I moved abroad to Hungary. I lived there for 2 years and then started training with KT again about a year ago when we moved back to Austin.
Why did you decide to join ASF?
I joined to just give myself a kickstart into getting fit…I’d been overweight for a long time and had managed to, on my own, go from about 213lbs down to 130 at my lowest but my body never looked fit. I needed help taking it to the next level.
What were your goals when you started?
When I first started training with KT I was about 148 lbs so I had gained some weight and was not feeling that great. My goals were initially just to slim down and gain muscle. We made great progress and then I moved overseas. When I arrived back stateside, I was engaged and planned to be married in November 2017. We started training 3 days per week with the wedding in sight. I trimmed off 10 lbs and gained lots of definition. I was thrilled. My 2 current goals, in order, are to start a family with my husband and have a fit and healthy pregnancy and afterward to compete in a figure competition. I’ve enjoyed pushing my body and am curious how far I can take it.
How close are you to meeting them?
Working hard every day on both fronts. I’ll keep working towards figure until I am able to get pregnant. Under great care of my Dr., KT and my nutrition coach, I’m making progress on both fronts. I’d love to be a hot preggo mama!
What changes have you noticed in your body, mind, spirit since starting at ASF?
I’m stronger now than I ever thought I could be, pain in parts of my body have greatly diminished due to the strength I’ve built in my core and other areas.
Why do you like working out with KT?
I love working out with KT. It’s actually something I look forward to. She genuinely cares about me and is more than a training coach, she’s a friend. We can laugh, and scream and cry and it’s all good. It’s just as much about the emotional as it is the physical. KT is so accepting, down to earth, and downright funny. It’s a true joy to spend time with her.
What is it about KT/ASF that keeps you coming back?
In addition to the above. She pushes me harder than I would ever push myself, knowing that I’m capable and I get stronger every day!
What are your goals & plans for the future at ASF?
Start a family and maintain a healthy and fit pregnancy and work towards figure.
What is your favorite food?
When I can have it…..anything sweet, pizza, and Mexican!!
Any advice you’d share with a newcomer to ASF?
Stick with it, don’t give up, make it a habit, put yourself first, trust the process. There are always quick fixes and shortcuts but trusting the process will result in changes that stick with you for a lifetime, not just for the moment.
Anything else you’d like to add about your experience at ASF or with KT?
It’s addicting, it’s been a snowball effect for me really. The more I do it, the more I wanna do it.
