“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger
Why did you become a personal trainer?
To quote Confucius, “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” I love health and fitness because it has not only made me stronger physically but it has given me an incredible amount of mental strength and confidence to excel in all other aspects of my life. In a world where so many things are out of our control, health and fitness has the potential to change your life in a way that you can control. Fitness is a form of expression where you can let it all out while improving your well-being.
I am passionate about helping people transform their lives through health and fitness so that they too can look and feel confident. The most awesome thing about my job, aside from interacting with amazing people on a daily basis, is how gratifying it is to have a client thank me for helping them achieve their goals.
How would you describe your training style?
I place a lot of emphasis on form and correcting muscle imbalances to avoid injury and ensure that your body moves efficiently. I stress building lean muscle mass by progressively lifting heavier weights in order to speed up your metabolism and turn your body into a strong, fat burning machine.
Do you have any areas of specialization?
I particularly enjoy working with females who want to lose weight so I can show them how heavy lifting will give them not only a lean physique but tons of self-confidence.
What is your sports and fitness background?
I played soccer (center midfielder) from age 5 all the way through college.
Favorite things to do/places to go in Austin?
Anything outdoors! One of my favorite things to do is ride my bike through the city with no destination in mind. My favorite places to go are Elizabeth Street Café, Halcyon and anywhere on the East Side (East Side Showroom, Uncorked, White Horse).
How you spend your time outside of the gym?
Cooking! I love to make healthy yet delicious tasting meals. My most recent creation is a Spaghetti (Squash) Bolognese, my nona would be so proud!
