Athlete of the Month

MICHAEL JOHNSON: ASF CENTRAL ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – OCTOBER 2018

Michael has been with Coach KT almost since the beginning of his fitness journey, despite having a full work and family life. No matter what, he consistently makes time to be proactive about his fitness. This year we’re well on our way to a two plate (225#) bench press.

Here’s a little bit about Michael’s ASF experience.

What do you do for work/ in your professional life?
Electrical Engineer – I manage a team of engineers design wireless communication like Bluetooth
How long have you been working out at ASF?
Three years

 

Why did you decide to join ASF?
It is on my way to work, which was important so I keep it doing it

What were your goals when you started?
My goals are to increase general strength

How close are you to meeting them?
It a process that doesn’t have an end

What changes have you noticed in your body, mind, spirit since starting at ASF?
My confidence has grown because i’ve consistently stuck with regular workouts – this was the biggest reason for joining

What challenges have you had to overcome, if any, since starting out at ASF?
Believing that I could improve

Why do you like working out with KT?
She always has a positive attitude and smile.  KT makes me feel comfortable moving into in challenges and always safe.

What is it about KT/ASF that keeps you coming back?
KT reads people well and understands where they want to take their fitness levels – you feel very comfortable with her and I like the smaller gym feel.

What are your goals & plans for the future at ASF?
Keep improving

What is your favorite food?
For lunch, I can’t resist spaghetti all carbonara at La Traviata on Congress

Any advice you’d share with a newcomer to ASF?
Create a consistent schedule for yourself and understand that plateaus will come and go through everyone’s training.
