Athlete of the Month

KERRY REDDING: ASF LEANDER ATHLETE OF THE MONTH – FEBRUARY 2018

Kerry is at powerful business woman who owns her own brokerage, Allure Real Estate, and mother to 3 children. She is one of those people who always pushes herself to be better than she was the day before, something her coach and trainer recognized in her right away; between that and her consistency in the gym, we couldn’t think of a better athlete to give this honor to in February.

“Kerry’s inner drive for constant growth has made her very successful in the gym,” said Lindsey Lashley, Kerry’s coach and trainer.  “My favorite thing about her is that she sees the value of being strong and she gets excited at being more powerful. She texted me one day that she was lifting a bale of shavings for her horses and she couldn’t believe how light it felt.” She told me it was an awesome feeling and she loves feeling strong again.” We are seeing her confidence grow everyday, and believe her training in the gym is impacting her from the inside out. Kerry is a true testament of how training can empower all areas of life. Keep putting in the hard work, Kerry! Click here and read more about Kerry’s ASF experience.

How long have you been working out at ASF?
Started here last summer

Why did you decide to join ASF?
I have some back issues (after having 3 large babies!), and needed to train with someone who knows how to help me strengthen my back and avoid injury.

What were your goals when you started?
Get healthy, gain muscle, tone up.

How close are you to meeting them?
Pretty good! I can lift more than I ever could before, and am seeing the changes now that I have the diet in check. This 43 year can squat more than her own bodyweight, and bench over 100lbs! I never thought that possible…..

What changes have you noticed in your body, mind, spirit since starting at ASF?
We have horses, so there is a lot of heavy lifting (hay bales, etc). It’s a lot easier for me to accomplish barn chores now! I very much look forward to my 3 times a week workouts….it’s a little piece of calm and “me time” in my crazy weeks.

What challenges have you had to overcome, if any, since starting out at ASF?
With 3 kids, a “ranch”, and running my own business….finding time is tough. But I finally got to where I work around my workouts; I get upset if I have to miss one!

Any surprises since starting at ASF?
I am surprised at how much I look forward to it, and that I am even considering entering a meet at some point just to “see what I can do” (I am a tad competitive…).

Why do you like working out with Lindsey?
Lindsey is a fabulous cheerleader…she doesn’t let you slack, and she encourages you to do the best you can. She always checks in to make sure that you are comfortable, and asks if you want to do more. I like that about her.

What is it about LindseyASF that keeps you coming back?
I am constantly challenged to do more and be better!

What are your goals & plans for the future at ASF?
I’d love to do a meet at some point in the future…I’m not quite there yet, but working on it.

What is your favorite food?
I just love sushi! I would have to love something expensive. 😉

Any advice you’d share with a newcomer to ASF?
Show up, ready to work with the mindset that you can do it. Because you can.

Anything else you’d like to add about your experience at ASF or with Lindsey?
They’re always so supportive, and I love the atmosphere of encouragement. Everyone is always so willing to help, and truly want you to do your best.
